Servo Axis Programming

An important aspect of industrial automation is the use of servo systems. These systems control many of the moving parts of an automated machine, so they are essential components in automated processes.

A servo-electric drive is an electronic device capable of receiving a signal from the control system to amplify it and power the servo-motor that will provide the motion required to the tool that is driving. Depending on the machine, the signals can represent current, velocity, torque, position and others.

The combination of the servo-drive and the mechanism driven is called an axis of motion. Automated machines usually have a group of servo axes. To achieve the movement required for each of the servo axes, a programming step is necessary at the control system.

Schmale Machinery Servo Axis Programming

As we provide fully automated machines, the tools to perform the metal forming processes are driven by servo systems. This means that several servo axes can be found in our machines, and they require a programming step to work properly. Our machines do have up to 80 axes per machine, about 20 on average. That is far beyond most competitors’ numbers and requires both, a great machine internal handling of the axes and an even better user interface.

To increase efficiency, we make the programming of servo axes easy and clear, thus resulting in higher productivity and profitability. The programming step can be completed in just three steps through the simple, intuitive and user-friendly interface we provide.

Step 1:
Select the servo axis. The options are displayed in the form of a picture of the machine. You can tap on the place where the desired axis is located and a more detailed picture with the axes in that place is shown. A second way to select axis is a dropdown bar for easy and more direct selection.
Step 2:
Enter the required stroke and degrees. The data is presented graphic and in a simple table to allow a clearer view.
Step 3:
Calculate the curve in real time and display it. The programmed profile is immediately available. You can see other axis simultaneously and check the timing easily.
