Servo-electric aggregates

Schmale provides machines with an intelligent combination of technologies, and our concepts are as individual as your product to be manufactured.

As the main material processed by our machines is metal wire that comes in the form of coils, we offer servo-electric units that include automatic decoilers and servo-electric feed-in roller, in addition to buffer magazines, presses with tool changer, thread formers and finger benders. All of these units are fully automated.

Our decoilers can work with coils of up to 5 tons, and wires with diameters that range up to 1”, and they are fabricated with a robust design that allows for a higher reliability.

Our servo-electric feed-in rollers are units that help to automatically feed the metal wire into the fabrication cycle. With an easy and simple setting, and (almost always) the possibility of performing adjustments while running, they enable you to have a precise and smooth transition of the material from the coil to the fabrication process. Among other possibilities that the servo-electric feed-in rollers allow we can include movement when the system is stationary, several strokes, feed-in length with no limitations, saving the feed-in length information and profiling of the material.

Our buffer magazines are an important tool to control the timing of the material processing. They allow for a controlled delivery of specific materials such as cut sections. Another important characteristic is that they have very low energy consumption. However, it is important to know that the length of the material cannot be changed while the machine is running.

Presses and dies are the main tools for many metal forming processes. Our presses with tool changer can be set in different stages of the fabrication cycle and provide capabilities such as operation forces ranging between 40 tons and 700 tons, an integrated 8-fold tool changer with a typical tool changing time of 0.6 seconds, and the possibility of performing the punching process in 0.8 seconds. Both numbers can be changed on request.

Many applications require threaded sections, which is why a thread former may be essential in different fabrication cycles. These servo-electric units, which are called thread formers, are also fully automated with automatic positioning above the material, automatic change between different thread formers, and a typical thread forming process that can be completed in 1 second including tool changing.

Another common forming process in metal parts manufacturing is bending. Our finger benders are also automated servo-electric units that allow to achieve the desired shape on metal wires and strips. They have the capability of bending wire from 2mm to 25mm (1″) of diameter and sheet metal.

Why Schmale Machinery

As it is the case with all other production technologies, Schmale places the highest standards on the productivity and future viability of the machines created. The customer receives a modern, future-oriented and energy-efficient machine that has been precisely tailored to his requirements to produce complex components from wires in an economical and flexible manner.

The majority of the pneumatic components used in our machines come from our partner Festo, while many electric components and automation, are provided by our partner Siemens. The great relationship with these outstanding partners allows us to also offer original spare parts even at short notice with a stock of more than 1 Million USD around the world.

Schmale Machinery has delivered hundreds of integrated and automated machines to serve a wide range of industries including the automotive industry, the household industry, the building industry, the public transportation industry and others, resulting in a large list of happy customers.

Our customers can rely on a dedicated customer service department with remote service and on-site service, mostly provided within 24 hours.

To have a better view of the capabilities we offer, you can check our signature machines. Both the newly developed SPEEDMAX from Schmale and also the machines in the X2000NC series can integrate the processes required into a complex fabrication cycle to produce the desired metal parts by means of the units described above. You can also see the pictures and the videos to see our servo-electric units in operation.
