Speedmax The revolution in bending technology

Metal parts manufacturing usually involves a series of processes to size, shape and build the desired final product. For example, a simple piece metal wire taken from the metal wire coil can be transformed into a seat headrest frame by means of different processes such as bending, notching, broaching, stamping and chamfering. Depending on the manufacturer requirements, the fabrication cycle may have more or less processes.

Traditionally, in any metal part fabrication cycle, each process is performed independently requiring specific tooling (such as presses and dies) and operators for each of them. Of course, these requirements result in higher costs and reduced efficiency, which in turn means less productivity, a longer time to market and lower profitability.

To avoid negative aspects from traditional metal parts manufacturing, the SPEEDMAX of Schmale Machinery provides a fully automated solution that combines the advantages of 3D-CNC wire bending and wire bending by slides. It also integrates different processes such as bending, embossing, notching, flattening, joining, punching, swaging of tubes and wire in a comprehensive 20-station processing cycle.

SPEEDMAX Specs

This machine, which has been fully developed by an in-house dedicated design department, is available in three variants: small (S), medium (M) and large (L).

The main difference between the variants is that they can work with metal wire and tubes within a different diameter range as described below:

Variant Diameter Length
S 1/20″ to 1/4″ up to 12″
M 1/4″ to 1/3″ up to 20″
L 1/3″ to 1/2″ up to 20″

The set-up time for a product change with 3D bends takes only a few minutes if the wire has the same diameter. If necessary, tools are changed in less than 2 minutes.

Talking about capabilities, finger benders bend wire from 1mm to 25mm (1″), press units go from 10 tons to 200 tons and swage presses go from 24 tons to 100 tons.

As an example, the SPEEDMAX S is capable of producing up to 200 parts per minute by processing metal wire or tubes along its 20 processing stations.
